Draw 2 - Service Mash

One of the containers located at the city of London on the street Regent Street, near the BBC building and All Souls Church.

The idea of choosing this location is because of showing that homeless are as important as every person, and Regent Street is one of the most important places in London.

Action 2 - Using the Urbanforrest - Bianca Woisetschläger

My two actions show the use of the Urbanforrests in two different situations

1. Forrest-Night-Festival
The people living in the treehouses organise every year a festival in one of the urban forrests to collect money for the maintenance and repair of the forrests. They sell local and handmade products and in the evening everybody who wants to, can show their talent.

2. Urban gardening
To finance the life in the treehouses and the urban forrests in the middle of the city, the inhabitants need to plant their own fruits and vegetables and sell them on a weekley market in the city. Also they can invite school classes to teach them everything about nature.

Re-public spaces, by Lidiana D'Onorio

We are in the century of reuse, recycling, alternative solutions to normal manufacturing techniques. The theme of the redevelopment is increasingly important. We cannot afford to have spaces that are not needed. Where these spaces exist, the aim is to find them a new function. The goal is to transform those now unused places, in spaces that mean new social life, new urban quality.

RE-PUBLIC SPACES by Jorge Gerini is an initiative that involves all the city to form a new common space where there's an abandoned urban spaces. Everyone can give his own idea using the website and really every kind of person can partecipate, from the architects, to the private owners, artists and common people.

HIGH-LOW LINE_by Alberto Bernabé

Taking as an example or reference to the high line of New York and the Promenade plantée of Paris , and take benefit of the viaduct of the railway that is part of the Jubilee , one of the first lines of train from London, and that there is the subway.
I believe it would be interesting to propose the abolition of this railway line to create the "High - Low Line" a green and high walk, connecting different places and spaces that can be rehabilitated , and so switch between the high and the earthly, proposing different uses into the arches of the viaduct.
In this way there would be a much more attractive space for pedestrians and avoid the red segments .

Action by Anni to URBEGO Urban Pockets

My action to the project of URBEGO Urban Pockets is to accomplish urban gardening. To draft my idea, i chose the area around where i live in Alicante. To achieve greener surroundings you can rent a free spot in a residential zone for a certain time and do whatever you like with it: grow flowers, cultivate plants, use it for resting or to meet people, build an playground for kids,..
Even though the spot is rented, it is still for the common use.

Drawing by Anni to URBEGO Urban Pockets

That was my first try for a drawing related to my theme..

Action 2 - Affordable Tottenham - Anna Maly

One point I critisized about the Project is, that they say it will be very multicultural, that there live people who speak over 200 different languages, but they never mention HOW they want them to live together.
You can’t say, well they are all poor so they will be a community. You can’t expect the people to live together without a concept. A Persian guy and an Irish guy wont just be best friends, because they are neighboors and they both don’t earn much money.
So I was thinking about what brings people together, like really together, not only physically. That’s why I want to improve the work/living buildings. I want them to be the place for a “SHARING IS CARING”-exchange and borrow market.
I think the people can improve their life in affordable Tottenham by sharing their things or even share their free time. Examples how I imagine it:
The Persian family has 3 rice cookers but they only need one, so they give 2 of them to other families, for free.
The father of the English family has a car but he only needs it twice a day to go to work and to come back, so he borrows his car in the times he doesn’t need it. Then the Italian guy can drive his son to the basketball training.
The Indian woman only works Mondays and Tuesdays and the other days of the week she brings her children to the playground. She can also have an eye on the children of the American Family and in exchange the American woman helps her children with their homework after school, because she helps her children anyway.
This are only a few examples I imagined, there are many more possibilities.

The Booth-Community #453 Selin Özkürkcü

The project includes six actions that are important in the implementation!
Action one deals with recyling of disused objects that could be used for the empty space.
The integration ofold objects without function is sustainable and gives his own charme.
Action two describes the possibilities of recycling and processing. Action
three deals with the topic of acceptance of the residents. If there will be assumption than occupasion
and using will follow. Action five shows the spreading of the idea and also the transformation
and adaption of the object. The last action six shows the best possible situation that might arise
for the project. The expansion and complete adaption.

STATIC CHANGE for FREELSE by Marianna Marino #528

STATIC CHANGE for FREELSE by Marianna Marino #528

The social space FREELSE is used by students to spend their time every day.
The first idea is to transform the space into the design, because the students or young people that are walking through Houghton Street should want to come here to do different activities.

The design concept is the module that turns STATIC CHANGE.
If something has a function, it could become something else with a different form and role in the space.
A static element can be used by the students
We can do this through the transformation of the architectural elements.
The idea of the project is to transform the space around you into something else.
The student can use a static element of architecture for many different uses, for example steps can be used as a table or as a seat.

A-legal David Martínez Torrado

A-legal is a project that has his start with one project of the designingtheurbancommons.org, the project that i've choosen is THE COMMONS - USING MODERN TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE SPACES BETWEEN US by Choe Treger, Yuerong Zhang.

"people should be given the chance to make their neighbourhood work for them"

That project propose the change of the urban spaces trought the collaboration of real people that is not agree with the real conditions of their own neighbourhood. To do that they propose the creation of a phone app in order that people can upload their projects, and the most succesfull projects will be choosen and built.

After that, and watching the critical point of view of the project, I was also interested in Santiago Cirugeda and his collective architecture. He works for real people with real problems always searching for alegal solutions.

Example of alegal architecture by Santiago Cirugeda

I was also rearching for collective actions like Acción Ciudadana or the Ted " video Architecture for the peopleby people- by Alastair Parvin " here you can see his web and his project http://www.wikihouse.cc/commons/

All these are projects are working for people and their real needs allowing also the people to work in a different way more collaborative, as the same that they are using the technologies to do it.

In that moment I realised that i wanted to work for the real needs of the people, here is where A-legal appears. To focus in a real problem with a real collective, also thinking in our critical vision of the situation as students I thought in all the problems that student of architecture have, and their actual needs.

To make a project where I know the real needs of the people the first that I want to do is to ask the people what they want to change. Im developing a phone APP and all the social network to spread the project and also to ear what the people want and these friday at the Politecnical IV building something will happend. Instead of draw an action what I've done is all the steps to make people start the REAL CHANGE.

That project will be also collaborative so each person who wants to join the project can do it. Actually there are 2 gyus who want to collaborate on the project.

These is the Beta version of the APP

The architecture of loopholes

Taking advantage of the legal loopholes to benefit the physical loopholes of the city.

From a virtual network into a physical new network in the interstices of the official city.

In the topic of dubious legal architecture different levels are used to placed the intervention having always the city as a base growing platform: mainly the street level and the skyline level, having as base the constructions.

But what's going on between the physical bases?  Is it a legal void in the middle level? Here it comes to script the loopholes of the city: those tiny, malformed spaces that are strongly responsible of the real character of the city and sometimes its worst face... but it can maybe be turned into a more friendly and even useful place.

_Marta Mochniak_Action drawing from #chicken or the egg

The idea which represents the important value in architecture is the fact that by creating architecture we-designers- can connect people-by creating common places, giving them opportunities to meet and develop relationships. The drawings are about putting move activities into common areas in the city. Everytime we need to do something- like working in front of the computer- we normaly do it at home..alone. The idea is for instant to move this activity into the nature or-more realistic- to create a pavillons in a city to be able to work there.

RAINBOW of DESIRES _ Jose Alejo Rodriguez Cabrera

Aware about the problems that exist around social housing estate (processes of privatisation and gentrification) that often let people who lives in this kind of house voiceless, born, from a group of six members specialized in differents areas (architecture, social working, theatre, activism and performative spaces), a proposal that have one objective: give those affected people tools and ways to figth against this troubles.

We are in front of RAINBOW OF DESIRESa project located in the open spaces of Rhodes estate in Dalton and composed by a set of differents and small pavilions which provide spaces for workshops, interacts among neighbors and for communal everyday life (public seating area, an open kitchen, an exchange library, a cinema...). These pavilions are connected to a central area that becomes the central stage of the interactive Theatre of the Oppressed. The audience becomes active, such that as “spect-actors” they explore, show, analyse and transform the reality in which they are living.

This project have three parts or steps to make reality this proposal.

First Step _ Study and viralization

In this first part the group of the project they try to make a study about the possibles areas for place the set of pavilions, looking for advantages and disadvantages.

At the same time they would build visually-strong structures anouncing the event.

Second Step _ Setting the space and the stage

Time for study and configure the place choosed. Five pavilions (the cinema, the exchange library, the newspaper theatre, the break out space and the culinary workshop) gonna be located around a central area: the principal stage.

The idea is interconnect all the pavilions creating a big area where the neighbors will interact with the activists and among them.

The base pavilion is designed in wood and it can be assembled relatively easy and quickly way. It's a cheap and simple construction that provides the many diferents necessary spaces for the communal live.

Third Step _ ACTION!

With the third step, this group want to make a real movement where the neighbors are those people that will figth for them homes and lifestyle. Trough a periodical workshop with the social housing tenants based on Boal’s techniques that use theatre as means of promoting social and political change.

I've choosen this project for two primordial reasons. The first one work with people and try to encourage them. In other hand  i think it is not the best way to face this kind of problems. At the end, this actions, activities and intentions ends in mere amenities and wotkshops with the main problem as background. But  that I do not like the chose of the way to raise the proposed objective does not mean that I do not like my the way. Maybe with another objective this kind of solution would be the correct one.

Golden Workshop

Relationated to this project I've founded this project called GOLDEN WORKSHOP where German architects modulorbeat and students from the Münster School of Architecture constructed a glittering golden pavilion to exhibit the techniques of medieval goldsmiths in Münster's central market square.

The idea is to erect a small, attractive pavilion containing a gold workshop as well as an information point: a temporary construction for the duration of the exhibition that should reflect the exhibition theme and draw notice to the Domplatz.
