Selin Özkürkcü with Entry 453

The Booth-Community has the theme of conversion of disused or empty public spaces into new networks and collaborations. Therefore the Booth get different functions to connect common passions and connect around common places. On that account i would make a critical comment because the connection between common places is not safe with arranging Booths with the same conception like an repair shop or library. Even with an online-platform of the Booth-Community is the guarantee of
connection not given.

Here is an similar project with conversion of disused parking garages. The architects (Studio Levitt Bernstein) ha the idea of reusing empty parking garages into houses for homeless people. The structures allow for easy installation and can be inhabited immediately. I think this project could more useful in connecting a community or maybe a mixture of both projects.

Another urban common design project is the High line in New York, a disused trainway which now serves a an park. It connects the people who like to beeing near to the nature or for people who like urban gardening.
